Let's get your website assistant ready

Collin, this is everything the assistant needs to answer customers the way you would: your prices, your area, your calendar. Skip anything you're unsure about. Daniel will fill in the gaps with you.

1Your prices

The assistant only ever shows a rough range, never a quote. These numbers just make that range realistic. Rough is fine.

2How it talks about money

Right now the assistant: gives a range only · always adds "a range, not a quote, Collin gives the real number after he sees the site" · never lowers the number or matches a competitor when someone pushes · never calls a budget "enough".

Are you comfortable with that?

3Ballparks for your other work

Today it only gives instant ranges for decks and pergolas. For everything else it says "Collin prices those on the visit." Want ranges for any of these?

4Wood decks

The website only shows composite decks.

Do you build cedar or other wood decks?

5The site visit

Your homepage says "Free, no-pressure consultation." Is the visit always free?

6How far you'll travel

Colorado Springs, Broadmoor, Monument, Black Forest, Peyton and Falcon are already in. What about these?

7Jobs that aren't a fit

Anything you don't take on?

8Booking site visits

Instead of "Collin will reach out," customers can pick a real time that drops straight onto your Google Calendar.

Which days work for visits?
How long does a visit usually take?

9New-lead alerts

The moment a customer finishes chatting, you get their name, number, project and ballpark.

How do you want them?

10Quick answers for customers

When customers ask these, the assistant answers in your words. A sentence each is plenty.

HOAs: do you prepare the drawings and samples customers submit for approval?

11Its personality

12Connect the AI

The assistant runs on Claude, made by Anthropic. Running it from your own account means you own it, and the bill comes to you directly. It's a few cents per conversation, and you set a monthly cap so it can never surprise you.
  1. Go to console.anthropic.com and sign up with your business email.
  2. Under Billing, add a card and buy a starting credit ($25 is plenty).
  3. Under Limits, set a monthly spend limit. We suggest $50.
  4. Under API keys, click Create key, name it "Website assistant", and copy it. It starts with sk-ant-.
  5. Paste it below. That's it.
Your key is locked (encrypted) on this device before it's sent. Only Daniel's setup system can unlock it, and it goes straight into your website's settings. Nobody sees it, and it's never emailed or stored as plain text. Skip this step for now if you'd rather do it together.

✓Last thing

Before it goes live, you and your team play customer for 15 minutes to make sure it sounds like you. When's a good time?

✓Thanks, Collin!

Daniel has everything. He'll load your answers into the assistant and send you a link to test drive it.
